The Daily News

Daily News is a newspaper published each day with a focus on local news in the New York City metro area. Founded in 1919, the paper is known for its bold journalism, commitment to New York, engaging storytelling and robust digital presence. The Daily News is currently owned by Tribune Publishing and headquartered in Jersey City, New Jersey.

The Daily News is also a leading source of entertainment and celebrity news for the New York City metropolitan area. It has a strong reputation for investigative journalism and is known for its social media engagement and breaking news coverage. The paper is well-regarded for its editorial and opinion pieces as well, covering a range of topics including politics, sports, entertainment and culture, and community news.

Daily News is available online and in print. The website offers a wide variety of features to allow users to customize the experience and stay updated with the latest news. The site also includes articles, videos and photo galleries. In addition to the website, Daily News is available on smartphones, tablets and other devices.

The newspaper is distributed in more than 50 counties throughout the United States, and is also available for sale abroad. It is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists. It was also ranked as one of the top newspapers in the world by “The Daily Beast” in 2015.

In addition to its printed edition, the Daily News publishes several online-only supplements and special issues each year. These include the Friday supplement called WKND, a Saturday magazine, and an annual college newspaper, the Yale Daily News. The Daily News also publishes several podcasts and blogs.

While the paper has been historically moderate-to-liberal, in recent years it has exhibited a strong anti-Trump bias. It has also a tendency to favor celebrity and pop culture news over hard-hitting or in-depth political coverage. In fact, it has been the target of a sustained campaign by the right-wing group Media Matters for America.

In 1948, the newspaper established the television station WPIX, whose call letters were taken from its nickname, “New York’s Picture Newspaper,” and it still operates its former headquarters at the Daily News Building on 42nd Street (a building that was used as the model for the fictional Daily Planet in the first two Superman films). The Daily News is also the publisher of The New York Times. The News’s current headquarters at 450 West 33rd Street (also known as Manhattan West) is an Art Deco landmark designed by John Mead Howells and Raymond Hood. The building was the first newspaper building to be built with a stainless steel façade.
