Entertaiment is a broad category of activities involving recreation, leisure, and amusement. It is a form of art and a type of culture. Entertaiment can be as small as a single person choosing from amongst the available options to occupy his time, or as large as an organized performance intended for thousands of people. The word entertainment comes from the Medieval Latin intertenere, or “to hold inside.” The prefix inter means “inside,” and the suffix tenere suggests a stretching of an idea or image to fit its container. This reflects the nature of entertainment in general, which is constantly adapted to fit any scale or context.
