Automobiles are an indispensable part of our modern world, performing both the function of passenger and goods transportation and providing a lifeline to humans. Automobiles are classified on a variety of bases, but one of the most important parts is the engine. Engines are the main source of power and motion for a vehicle, and are divided into two basic parts: the internal combustion engine and the external combustion engine.

Benz’s inventions

Carl Benz’s inventions in the automobile began when he patented the Motorwagen, the first practical gasoline-powered automobile. Since then, Benz has made numerous improvements to key automotive components. Despite a rocky start in the business, his companies have become industry leaders in Europe and the United States.

General Motors

General Motors is a multinational automotive manufacturing company with headquarters in Detroit, Michigan, United States. It is the largest carmaker in the United States and for 77 years was the world’s largest automaker. However, in 2008, Toyota surpassed General Motors and took over the top spot.


The Ford Motor Company is a multinational automobile manufacturer with headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. It was founded in 1903 by Henry Ford and is now one of the world’s largest car companies. It sells vehicles under the Ford brand and luxury vehicles under the Lincoln luxury brand.


Honda automobiles are known for their quality and reliability. The company is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Honda produces several different types of vehicles, including motorcycles, minivans, and luxury cars.


The Toyota automobile is a Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer headquartered in Toyota City, Aichi, Japan. Toyota was founded by Kiichiro Toyoda in 1937, and is one of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world, producing over ten million vehicles per year.


Nissan automobiles are Japanese automobiles manufactured by the Nissan Motor Company. The company is headquartered in Yokohama, Japan, and sells vehicles under the Nissan, Infiniti, and Datsun brands. It also produces performance tuning products under the Nismo name.
