History

New York Daily News

Los Angeles Mirror

Founded by the owners of the Los Angeles Daily Times, the Los Angeles Mirror Daily News was published after World War II. The Mirror was an afternoon tabloid, which competed with the Los Angeles Daily News.

The Mirror began publishing in 1948 and absorbed the Los Angeles Daily News in 1954. The Mirror became a major news outlet for southern California. The Mirror was owned by the Times Mirror Company, which was formed by Harrison Gray Otis.
