Entertaiment is the activity of providing pleasure, diversion or amusement. It can be something simple, such as solving the daily crossword puzzle, or elaborate, like a ball or play. It can also be an event, such as a concert or sports game. The word entertain comes from the Latin intertenere, combining the prefix “inside” with tenere, an Indo-European root that means to stretch or elongate.
Interestingly, entertainment often hits on the points that our brain was evolved to react deeply to, wich is why it can make such an impact. It is stimulating and gives a positive feeling, unlike some of the other forms of media such as news which can give a negative impact.
